This posed a serious barrier to standardizing on Microsoft Office 2000 and other office productivity applications.
Alto's SolutionWith Alto’s assistance, Medtronic designed and implemented a load-balanced Windows Terminal Server + Citrix MetaFrame server farm that supports 500 users on seven servers, with each server running four CPUs and 2 Gb of RAM. Supported applications include Microsoft Office 2000, Novell GroupWise, Netware client integration to support their existing Netware network, and an NFS client to access an existing Unix network. All of this software is available to Medtronic users running under OS/2 and Unix.
