Alto Consulting has been engaged in an ongoing SharePoint project with the San Diego Zoo since January 2010. Our initial solution was for a one department and has grown over time, following the pace of the client that has worked for their needs. Our current phase involves replacing the existing intranet with SharePoint, theming the top level sites, branding the portal landing page, and providing solutions to several very involved processes dealing with shipping and animals.
ServicesAlto has provided and continues to provide a wide range of services to San Diego Zoo including planning, design, requirements gathering, mentoring of client’s staff, migration from 2007 to 2010 SharePoint, workflow design, custom permissions and more. Even though the project started out for one department Alto has designed the solution with the need for future growth throughout the organization.
Extensive workflow processes have been developed and are a key to increasing staff efficiencies. Extensive meetings and planning has gone into branding and site layouts as well. One on one mentoring and training has been critical to the client to allow them to be able to support the site ongoing and allow them to also make changes and additions to their site. Once the entire site is completed thousands of employees, part time employees and volunteers will use the site as part of their daily activities to get work done more timely and effectively.
